Exhaustion and These Late Nights

You don’t realize how late you work until you schedule a meeting an hour after you’re supposed to be off. But that’s the time that the mother you need to meet with comes home from her 12 hour shift, so you commit. Not necessarily because you want to, but because it’s the only way to … Continue reading Exhaustion and These Late Nights

Believing gospel. Hanging with cats. Journaling and reading - more this season than I have in years. I don’t have much to say. These are simple days. Grateful.
Advent. The season we meditate on the coming of Jesus, the fulfilled promises of God, and savor the wonder of it all. I am so prone to ask God to help me stay present today, but then look at the calendar and say, “I can’t believe it’s already December!”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I refuse to do that today. I refuse to look at the calendar and count 2019 out. I refuse to let another year make me feel passed me by. I refuse to let advent rush by me without soaking it and all its glory in.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Actually, I’m going to look at today and count it in. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m going to trust the Lord with the time he has given me, and believe that today is not without purpose. Whatever happens today is in his hand’s, and I’m just going to ask him to help me see and enjoy that. My morning coffee, lesson planning, lunch at the office, meeting with my kids - none of it has been given on accident. These are all opportunities to love him and honor him. Lord, I am here for this today.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Not looking ahead to the weekend. Not wishing I had more time. Not feeling like I should have done more this last year. Not setting unrealistic expectations for next year, and thinking, “oh, I’ll get it right next time.” Ugh.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But instead, I’m going to (imperfectly) practice living in contentment and wonder for today; choosing to believe what I’ve been given has been exactly enough and exactly what God intends to work out within me.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Today is a good place to start. And along the way, I’m going to remember why I can do this: because Jesus came. He is the redeemer of our time and comes out victorious. Every time.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Graphic: @euniandco
When I read about the early church devoting themselves to Jesus’ teaching and fellowship, praying for one another and meeting together, and breaking bread and eating with glad hearts, I think of them. Thankful that these sweet people are my community. | Acts 2:42-47⁣ ⁣ #friendsgiving #latergram
